Responsible Gambling
You must be 21 or older (or the legal minimum age where you live) to bet on sports in the United States. Nothing on Best Sportsbook Promos is aimed at anyone younger.
Responsible gambling means keeping betting a limited form of entertainment: you decide in advance what you can afford to lose, you stick to it, and you stop when it stops being fun. This page explains how that works in practice, how promotions can influence your decisions, and where to get help. Last fact-checked September 29, 2026.
Need help now? Call or text the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537). It is free, confidential and open 24/7. Texas residents can also use the resources listed further down.
Betting is a cost, not a way to earn money
Sportsbooks price every market so that, over time, they keep a margin. No system, pick or level of sports knowledge removes the risk of losing. Treat any money you stake as spent on entertainment, the same as a ticket to a game. Never bet to pay bills, cover debt, recover from a bad month or escape stress.
Anything that is not a "lock" is a risk, and nobody can honestly promise a lock. Be skeptical of tipsters and ads that suggest otherwise.
How bonuses can push you to bet more than planned
Best Sportsbook Promos compares welcome bonuses, deposit matches and free bets. Those offers come with conditions, and the conditions can nudge behavior. Watch for these traps:
- Depositing to reach the maximum match. A "100% up to $1,000" offer does not mean you should deposit $1,000. Deposit only what you had already budgeted.
- Rollover pressure. Wagering requirements can make you place more bets than you otherwise would. If clearing a bonus means betting beyond your limit, skip the bonus.
- Expiration dates. A deadline is not a reason to bet faster or bigger. Let a bonus expire rather than chase it.
- Chasing after a loss. Never use a promotion to try to win back money you lost.
- Bonus funds versus cash. Bonus bets and site credit often cannot be withdrawn as-is, and the stake may not be returned with winnings. Read the terms first.
Every offer listed on this site carries terms on rollover, minimum odds, eligible payment methods and time limits. Check them on the operator's own site before you deposit, and see our Terms and Conditions for how this site works.
Set limits before you place a bet
Decide your limits when you are calm, not mid-game. A simple plan:
- Set a monthly entertainment budget from money that is not needed for rent, bills, savings or debt.
- Split it into deposit amounts you will not exceed per week.
- Set a time limit for each session.
- Decide in advance what loss ends the day, and stop when you reach it.
- Never re-deposit the same day after hitting your limit.
Many licensed US sportsbooks offer tools such as deposit limits, loss limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion. Availability varies by operator and state, so confirm what an account offers before you sign up.
Warning signs to take seriously
- Betting more money or more often than you intended
- Trying to win back losses
- Borrowing money, or using rent or bill money, to bet
- Lying to family or friends about how much you bet
- Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you are not betting
- Betting to escape stress, loneliness or problems
- Neglecting work, school or relationships
If several of these sound familiar, take a break and talk to someone. Support is available and it works best when sought early.
State-regulated sportsbooks and offshore sites are not the same
Sports betting is legal in many US states, but rules differ by state, including minimum age (21 in most places), which sports and bet types are allowed, and which operators hold a state license. Licensed operators in a state are subject to that state regulator's consumer protection and dispute processes.
Several brands ranked on this site, including Lucky Rebel, Bovada, BetOnline, BetNow, Everygame, BetUS, Sportsbetting, Xbet, MyBookie and ApuestaHoy, should be checked carefully for their licensing status and whether they accept customers in your state. We do not claim any of them holds a US state license. If a site operates outside your state's regulatory system, state player protections may not apply, there may be no regulator to escalate a dispute to, and there is a real added risk that winnings or deposits may not be paid. Age checks and self-exclusion tools may also work differently.
Before you deposit anywhere, confirm that it is legal for you to use in your state, read the terms, and only deposit an amount you could lose entirely. Laws change, so if you are unsure of your legal or tax position, consult a qualified professional. Winnings may be taxable, and this page is not tax or legal advice.

Self-exclusion and blocking tools
If you want to stop, use every layer available: self-exclude from each sportsbook you use, ask your state regulator whether it runs a statewide exclusion program, use your bank's option to block gambling transactions, and install blocking software on your devices. Delete betting apps and unsubscribe from promotional emails and texts so offers stop reaching you.
How this site approaches promotions
We may earn a commission if you sign up through some links, but commission does not decide rankings. Editorial ratings are our own assessments, not customer review scores, and no offer here is a recommendation to bet. You can learn more about who runs the site on our About Us page, or reach us through Contact Us.
If betting is affecting your life, the best offer is the one you skip. Call 1-800-GAMBLER any time.
